SAGD Source Water Pipeline Cold Lake Air Weapons Range, AlbertaProject Capital Cost - $6 MM The Mandate. The client was looking to build a new, High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) lined, steel pipeline, located on the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range, to transport brackish source water from a future multi-well pad site. The Solution. GRB engineered and managed procurement and installation of 1.2 km of a 12 3/4" pipeline and 12.5 km of a 10 3/4" HDPE lined steel pipeline. Project details included: - Fabrication and installation of above ground risers with provisions for future pigging
- Fabrication and installation of buried internally coated fittings
- Pipeline to handle maximum operating pressure (MOP) of 8618 kPag (1250 psig) and tested at 10773 kPag (1652 psig)
- Steel linepipe sections (~800 meters long) were tested before and after installation of the HDPE Tight Liner to validate operating pressure
- Linepipe ditched in accordance with proper environmental practices specific to the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range and to specifications set out in environmental reports
